“It’s been really wonderful. First of all, it’s really organized and structured. The people here really care about you. And it’s just a really good environment to do the Fresh Start literally, both from a food standpoint and your mental/ emotional health. So, from all of those standpoints, it was a great environment.”

Improvements with: Adrenal Fatigue/ Burnout, Back Pain, Brain Fog, Bunions, Digestive Health, Eating and Lifestyle Habits, Sleep, Sugar and Junk Food Cravings, Weight Loss (4 lbs.).

BeforeAfter
Sugar Cravings. I'm a big eater. I love food. And I have had a lot of sugar cravings in the past. I want a Coca-Cola every day. And as soon as I drink a Coca-Cola, I don't feel well. So I wanted to get rid of those cravings. After the first couple of days, I didn't crave sugar. And that's been really helpful.
Sleep Issues. I'm normally a really good sleeper, but I've been travelling for work the last couple of weeks, so I was pretty short on sleep when I got here. And I found that when once I get short on sleep, then it's really hard for me to get back into a regular routine. And so I was, probably a week short on sleep getting here. Plus, I had my new conversion van for 6 months and I haven’t adjusted to it and haven’t slept well in it yet. I have slept well in my van the last couple of nights. And that was nice to just be able to lay my worries aside for the day. I also used some of the techniques that I learned in yoga and meditation, where I would just bring my energy down because I have a very active mind. And so, it was really nice to be able to use those techniques and sleep better and just calm myself.
Burn Out and Mind Racing. I’ve just been feeling very burnt out, and I work really hard, and I'm not digging ditches, so to speak, but I'm on my computer a lot and thinking a lot. My mind is racing a lot… Energy level, I feel like I've just been going on autopilot. And I think that's how I've been, coping with being so busy. Wanted to do things not because I had to do, but because I wanted to do.The program/ meditation has also helped a lot with that, to be able to calm my mind and refocus… And in the last couple of days, things started picking back up. This week, when I first started, I was very, very low on energy. And in the last couple of days, things started picking back up. And I feel like the energy that I have is real energy.
Digestion Issues.I've had a lot of digestion issues. I just don't feel well in my stomach a lot. I carry my stress in my stomach. So my stomach is always kind of in a knot. And then I will sit in my office for ten hours, and then I'm really really hungry because I haven't gotten up and I haven't fixed myself anything to eat. So then I would overeat, and then I wouldn't feel well. And it was just kind of a cycle. It’s been really interested this week that we're not eating giant portions, but I felt very satiated. I haven't felt hungry once and the food is so delicious. I just feel lighter.
Overweight. Since I've turned 40, the pounds don't come off like they used to. And I've got a spinal defect that has really affected my movement for the last several years. That's also why I've put on some extra pounds. I lost 4 lbs. in 4 days and am looking forward to keeping them off.
Back Pain.I actually have two broken vertebrae in my back. So it's not like just a muscular or just a nerve problem. It's an actual mechanical issue. During the first couple of massages I had, I could barely get back up off the table. Usually, laying down at first is very uncomfortable because my vertebrae are settling.

I toss a lot in bed. And usually, when I turn over in the night, I’m just wincing.
I am just amazed at how well my back feels the last couple of days. And I did that last Tachyon on treatment this afternoon (I had 3 of them), and I got right up. So it made a huge difference.
I'm sure it's a combination of all the different things, but my back feels better today than it has felt in a long time.

One of the reasons I slept better last night is that I turn less and have much less pain than normal, because
Prevention of Health Issues Aggravation.
A spinal injury affects every single minute of my life… I'm only 42. I worry about this getting progressively worse as time goes on.
This week has given me a platform to jump off of. to be able to improve my overall health and my mobility…. And I'm really looking forward to dropping some weight, not just so that I feel better emotionally, but also because I know it'll help my back. Then, the different meditations, yoga, stretching, and movement will help my back.
Bunions on Feet. I'm awfully young for that, but it is what it is. And they hurt me a lot.

Normally when I go into a massage, I say, please don't touch my feet.
The bunions haven't bothered me at all the last couple of days. I even forgot about it.

Two therapists were able to work on my feet, and it did not hurt. It was nice.
Brain Fog.I do feel a lot of brain fog often. And I struggle to find my words a lot. It's like my mind is going faster than my mouth. And so by the time it comes out my mouth, I'm already onto something else, and it doesn't come out right. In the last couple of days, I have felt a lot more clarity.

Experience Highlights:

  • The food was good. I was worried about that just because I’m vegan; I come from ranch beef country, you know.
  • I have a Vitamix, and I’m really excited about the blended soups, the sauces and green smoothies. I’m going to go back to eating meat. I’m not going to be a vegan, but we try to incorporate as many vegetables as we can at home. I even consider changing one meal per day and eating soup instead of meat. I loved the build-your-own taco!
  • Fitness Classes/ Zumba: I was least looking forward to the fitness class because of the movement with my back, I’m so stiff. I don’t have a lot of rhythm anyway, but when you’re stiff in your spine, it’s really hard to have rhythm. But I’ll tell you what, I had a blast.  Janine played the different music, and it was like my kind of pop dance music, like when I’m in my rig and her movements. were fairly subtle, but I was sweating at the end of it, and I really enjoyed that.  I was least looking forward to it, but I had the most fun in that.
  • Meditation, yoga and guided walks.
  • Salt Scrub was my favourite!
  • A chakra class – I thought it was interesting. I’d never seen that before.
